Fun and Excitement at Cosplay Mania 2009

Cosplay Mania 2009 is touted to be the biggest cosplay convention in the country. An event made by cosplayers for cosplayers. Now in it's second year, it promises to be bigger and better with a wide variety of events and activities. Cosplay Mania 2009 aka Cosmania '09 will be held at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 2 & 3 on September 13, Sunday. There will be cosplay contests, workshops, a cosplay cafe and much more.
As part of the workshops, there will be a cosplay blogging panel held in the Function Room at 11 AM. The panel of bloggers will discuss more about their blogging experience and perhaps share some tips about blogging. The panel will include Rochelle Dumlao of magnetic-rose.net, a news and general information site about Japanese Pop Culture, and Cliff Sawit of ProjetOtaking.com, site for anime, cosplay and all sorts of otakuness and geekdom. I am personally attending to support them at the blogging panel discussion.
Other workshops include Voice Acting Panel by The Society of Young Voice Artists of the Philippines, Cosplay Costume Making by Veteran and Multi-Awarded cosplayer Guy Singson, Cosplay Sewing 101 by Catherine De Jesus of OneFreeKiss, and Intro to Stage Combat by Adam Fuqua, from the New Worlds Alliance and Alliance of Eclectic Gamers and Interactive Storytellers (AEGIS).
For more information regarding the workshops, you can read them here.
Cosmania will also bring a brand new and different dining experience with their very own cosplay cafe. Mech Cafe, a mech-themed cosplay cafe, is brought to you by Cosplay.ph, in partnership with Lights Out and Dokissaten. For PhP100.00, you can choose between 2 of their meal sets served by lovely ladies and handsome men in costume. As I had the privilege of being able to dine during Dokissaten's debut at Shizen Orchestra, I am more than happy to experience their services again. Be sure not to forget to reserve yourselves slot at the cafe as well.
And of course, who can forget the main event, the cosplay competition. The lovely Ice Artificio will be donning the costume of Talim from Soul Calibur IV and will be competing in the event. Our group, Project Eiva, will be there to show our support as she cosplays on stage for the first time in the Philippines. We'll be there to compete and whether she wins or loses, we will be there to have fun. Which is what cosplay is really all about.
